Herman A. Brandt, 96, of Londonderry Village, Palmyra passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 at Carolyn’s House, Harrisburg. Born March 9, 1922 in Elizabethtown, he was a son of the late John and Fannie (Gipe) Brandt, widower of Erma (Tice) Brandt since March 1998, and also preceded in death by siblings Ada Baker, Elva Gibble, Minerva Brandt, Abner Brandt, Anna Koser, and Wilmer Brandt. He was a retired farmer, member of Midway Church of the Brethren and 1941 graduate of Hershey High School.

Following retirement, Herman volunteered with Brethren Disaster Ministries for over 10 years and Hershey Medical Center for 10,000 volunteer hours. Recently, he has enjoyed caning and reading. Surviving are his children Jeffrey, husband of Linda Brandt of Palmyra, Jean, wife of Mark Stoner of Shillington, Carol, wife of Robert Lutz of Lebanon, and Janice Morrissey of Manheim; sister Elsie Acri of Palmyra; grandsons Jared, husband of Kelsey Lutz and Patrick, husband of Alexandra Lutz; and great grandson Robert Lutz.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at DiMatteo Worship Center at Londonderry Village, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra preceded by a viewing from 10:00 AM. Interment 2:30 PM Thursday in Midway Cemetery, 15 Evergreen Road, Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033 or Brethren Disaster Ministries, Emergency Response/Service Ministries, PO Box 188, New Windsor, MD 21776.
