Born December 5, 1933, in Hilo, he was a retired accountant for Automotive Supply Center, also retired from the Hawaii Army National Guard, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, and member of Big Island National Guard Retirees Association, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Kyodan and Hoyukai, Piihonua Community Association, East Hawaii Hiroshima Kenjin Kai, Japanese Community Association and former Film Club member. Visitation from 4-5 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; memorial service at 5 p.m. Casual attire.

Survived by wife, Shizuho Ota of Hilo; sons, Terence (Karen) Ota, Leslie (Julie) Ota and Craig (Bridget Dias) Ota of Hilo; brothers, Satoshi Ota and Charles (Gladys) Ota of Hilo; sisters, Yukie Kunihiro, Ruth (Robert) Ouye and Lorraine (Gordon) Hashimoto of Hilo, Dorothy (James) Burton of Puna; sisters-in-law, Mayumi Ota, Laura Ota, Ellen Okimura and Marian (Raymond) Kuruhara of Hilo, Sayoko (Yoshiki) Murai of Honolulu, Vivian Prosise of Los Angeles, Arleen (Donald) Gerbig of Maui; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Alice) Nagai of Honolulu; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
