Obituary for Hubert Stofferan Hubert Stofferan, age 72, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial Services will be Friday, April 20, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley. Rev.
Terry Simm officiating. Burial to follow at Ocheyedan Township Cemetery in Ocheyedan, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday, April 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with the family present at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.
Hubert Stofferan was born on April 5, 1946 in rural Archer, Iowa, the fifth and middle child of Marvin and Mable (Johnson) Stofferan. He lived his youth in northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. When he was in the third grade, the family moved to Ocheyedan, Iowa where Hubert attended school until the eighth grade.
He helped his father in the junk business. In December of 1965, Hubert entered the United States Army and served in South Korea. He was honorably discharged in September of 1967.
He was united in marriage to Lois Vos of Hadley, Minnesota on June 4, 1971 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. To this union was born two sons, Brian and Kevin and one daughter, Jerilyn. Hubert worked for Geerdes Construction of Lake Park, Iowa, Johnson Gas Station in Ocheyedan, Iowa, Midwest Paving of Sioux City, Iowa, Stofferan Brothers Carpentry of Ocheyedan, Iowa, Rohlin Paving of Estherville, Iowa, and Tristate Paving of Estherville, Iowa, retiring in 2007.
Hubert passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 46 years, Lois Stofferan of Sibley, IA; his children, Brian and wife Stacie Stofferan of Sheldon, IA, Kevin Stofferan of Ocheyedan, IA and special friend, Cyndy Sooter of Round Lake, MN, Jerilyn Stofferan of Sheldon, IA; six grandchildren, Brett (Bridgett) Stofferan of Rock Rapids, IA, Austin Van Beek of Sioux Falls, SD, Cheyenne (Dan) Thurman, Cole Stofferan and Makala Van Beek all of Sheldon, IA, and Alexis Sooter of Round Lake, MN; five great-grandchildren, Hadley Stofferan, Jackson Thurman, Charlotte Thurman, Braxton Thurman, and Elliot Thurman; five brothers, Kermit Stofferan of Oyens, IA, Vernon (Janet) Stofferan of Sibley, IA, Marvin Jr. (Monica) Stofferan of Ashton, IA, Bill (Julie) Stofferan of Sibley, IA, Richard (Robyn) Stofferan of Ocheyedan, IA; sister-in-law, Darlene Stofferan of Sibley, IA; father-in-law, Case Vos of Slayton, MN; brother-in-law, Mike (Susan) Vos of Bliss, SD; sister-in-law, Pat Vos of Carnelian Bay, CA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mable Stofferan; one brother, Norman Stofferan; two sisters, Marvena (Lonnie) Bauerly and Marilyn (Franklin) Kruger; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Stofferan and Patricia Stofferan; three nieces and two nephews.
