Hunter Scott Sturgis, 63, died peacefully, at home, after a long illness, on the morning of Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Scott was born in Biloxi, MS, second son of Jack and Becky Dirickson Sturgis, but grew up in Delmar, MD. In 1978, he married Linda Ann Johnson of Georgetown, DE.

He worked for many years as a professional chef and then enjoyed a very successful career in food service sales. Scott died just five days before his and Linda’s 40th wedding anniversary. Survivors are wife Linda of Milford, DE, brothers and their wives Carroll & Sandy Sturgis, and John & Laura Sturgis, father-in-law Elwood Johnson, sisters and brothers by marriage Marie & Walt Meding, Ivalene & Rob Still and Quintin & Maria Johnson.

He also has 10 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews, with number 8 due in October. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 22860 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE, on Friday, September 21, 2018, at 2:00 PM. Visitation and refreshments will follow the service in the church hall.
