Ilene B. Egger Kearney Resident Ilene B. Egger, 92, of Kearney passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at CHI Health-Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Kearney with Rev. Dr. Rick Carlson and Rev.

Dr. Michelle Holley Carlson officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Kearney Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Ilene Bernice Egger was born on January 11, 1927 in Buffalo County, Nebraska to Otto and Anna (Martens) Geisert. She grew up around the Buffalo County area most of her life.

She worked 14 years for the Senior High Cafeteria and 15 years for Baldwins. On October 2, 1969, Ilene was united in marriage to Gene Egger at First Lutheran Church in Kearney. Gene preceded her in death on October 21, 1999.

Ilene was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kearney, the VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles Club. Her hobbies included crocheting and playing bingo. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Delbert Day of Kearney, Carolyn Fenstermacher of Kearney, Gary Day and his wife, Tamara of Omaha, Cindy Close and her husband, Jeff of Trion, NC and Cindy Heidecker and her husband, Terry of Hurst, Texas; 1 grandson; 2 granddaughters; 9 great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and many friends.
