Obituary of Ingeborg Remais Ingeborg “Inky” Hedin Remais, 95, formerly of Jamestown, NY and Little River, SC, passed away December 26, 2018 at Brightwater Senior Living Community in Myrtle Beach, SC. Ingeborg was born on April 18, 1923, in Jamestown, the only child of the late Ida Forslin Hedin and Richard Hedin. She was married to D. Robert Remais in 1946.

She was a graduate of Jamestown High School, the State University of New York at Fredonia and Butler University, IN, where she received a master’s degree. Ingeborg had a long career in education, teaching at The Griffith Institute in Springville, Lake George Central School and Jamestown Public Schools. She taught kindergarten for many years at Fletcher and Persell schools, retiring in 1978.

Ingeborg was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was involved in various organizations, including the Mozart Club, National Honor Society of Secondary Schools and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, where she served as president. She received the Music Study Award from the Mozart Club. Ingeborg was a current member of the King of Glory Lutheran Church in North Myrtle Beach, where she was very active in the Chancel Choir with her late husband.

Both were involved with the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach, where she excelled in playing the violin. She and Bob were avid golfers, both in Jamestown and Little River. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert, who passed away on January 9, 2011.

She is survived by her niece, Bonnie Anderson (Murray) Byrne of Clayton NY: and nephews, Paul R. (Anne) Hedin and Dr. Neil E.(Johanna) Hedin, both of Jamestown, and Rev. Jeffrey A. (Ruth) Hedin of Pittsford, NY, who will officiate at a private memorial service to be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Regency Hospice, 600 Garden City Connector, Garden City, SC 29576.
