GAREAU (DeFosse), Irene M., 93, formerly of West Warwick, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 23, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich. She was the wife of the late Raoul E. Gareau, former Fire Chief of the West Warwick Fire Department . Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Delina (Guay) DeFosse.

Irene was a Bookkeeper and Financial Advisor for over 20 years at West Warwick Machine Shop. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Valley Country Club and was a big supporter of the annual bazaar at St. John the Baptist Church every year. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews including Ann Roch, who was her primary care provider.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Edward and Napoleon Defosse, Oria Brouillard, Marie Jacques, Leo and Normand Defosse and Rita Tetreault. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning, July 25, 2018 from 8:30 – 9:30 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte. 117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in SS.

John & James Church, West Warwick. Interment will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beacon Hospice, Meadows Professional Park, 1130 Ten Rod Rd.
