She was born in Frankfurt, Germany on November 8, 1932 to Sebastian and Katharina Michels (Aulbach). Surviving relatives include: her children, Silvia Schneider (Eva), John M. Mata (Eric), Virginia Blanco-Cerda (Wayne), James Mata, Ursula Mata Brausam (Ken), Sylvia Farmer (Chris), Katherina Roe (Aaron); sisters, Waltraude, Marianne; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeremy Wayne, James Lee, J.D. and Nathaniel.
