Jack Paul Kilgore of Chelsea, Oklahoma July 15, 1941 – March 22, 2019 Services honoring and remembering the life of Jack Paul Kilgore will be held 11 AM Monday, March 25, 2019 at Rice Funeral Service. Jack passed away Friday, March 22nd, 2019 in Joplin at the age of 77. Born July 15, 1941 in Sperry, Oklahoma, Jack was the son of Claude Paschal and Ina Louise (Hill) Kilgore.

He grew up in Okmulgee where his family worked in the oilfields. They were also farmers in the area. His father was an iron worker and his career relocated the family several times.

They also lived on Lake Oneida in upstate New York, a place that brought him a great deal of happiness. He moved to Artesia, Californa at the age of 15 where he lived until he moved to Chelsea in 1989. Everyone in Rogers County called him “California Jack”.

Like his father, Jack pursued a career as an iron worker. He worked on numerous sky scrapers, the wind mills in the desert, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the Six Flags Magic Mountain in north of Los Angeles, and countless other projects across the country. Jack also did ornamental ironwork for many different celebrities and was known to be quite talented in his work.

Jack loved horses and knew a lot of people in the rodeo circuit. He was a free spirit and people from all over the country loved him. Jack was an avid endurance rider for over 30 years.

He will be dearly missed by a host of friends and family. Surviving family members include his children: Steven Todd Kilgore and Cynthia Lynn Kilgore; his sisters, Claudia Sue Newstrum and Lori Lee Seward; and his brother, Nathan Phillip Kilgore; and his best friend of 37 years, Faith Del Rio. Jack was preceded in death his parents; and his sister, Sherry Lucas.
