Mr. Jackie “Jack” Boyd Atkinson, 86, husband of the late Thelma Soles Atkinson, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Lake City/Scranton Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Prospect Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lake City. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home will follow at Eaddy Ford Cemetery, Johnsonville.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 22nd, at the church, prior to funeral services, and at other times at the home of Rick Atkinson, 464 Rena Atkinson Road, Johnsonville, SC. Mr. Atkinson was born August 2, 1932, in Darlington, a son of the late Coyt Atkinson and Rena Altman Atkinson. He was a retired farmer and owner of Atkinson Body Shop.

Mr. Atkinson was a member of Prospect Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and traveling to the mountains. Surviving are his children, Richard J. “Rick” Atkinson and Jacquie Atkinson, both of Johnsonville, Crystal (Kevin) Smith of New Zion; grandchildren, Travis (Courtney) Atkinson of Turbeville, Bobby (Allesa) Atkinson and Dustin Atkinson, both of Johnsonville, Corey “Brooke” (Scotty) Tedder and Kirby Smith, both of New Zion, and Danielle (Zac) Soles of Myrtle Beach; many great-grandchildren; and one great, great-grandchild; siblings, J.C. Atkinson of West Columbia, Larry (Susan) Atkinson of Spartanburg, Elsie Dean of Blythewood, Mary Lynn Poston of Johnsonville and Joyce “Dolly” Keisler of West Columbia; and special friend, Johnnie Ruth Altman.

Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by brothers, Harry Atkinson and Richard “Dick” Atkinson. Memorials may be made to Prospect Pentecostal Holiness Church, P. O. Box 787, Lake City, SC 29560.
