Obituary for Jacob W. Hose Jr. Jacob W. Hose, Jr., 79, of York died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia J. (Lorenz) Hose. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 9th.
Born September 15, 1939 in York, he was the son of the late Beatrice (Gross) and Jacob W. Hose, Sr. Jacob was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. His responsibilities included installing radios in air planes. He was employed with the York City Police Department for 26 years, beginning in March of 1966 and retiring in April of 1992 as a captain of the police department.
Jacob was a 1957 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. He graduated in 1979 from the Southern Police Institute of the University of Louisville Police Academy. He was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791, Mount Wolf VFW Post 2493, Rooster Social Club, 13th Ward Political Club, Vigilant Fire Social Club, Hawk Gunning Club, Starview Sportsmen Association, Prince Athletic Association, Victory Athletic Association, Red Lion Elks Lodge 1592, Loyal Order of Moose, and the International and Pennsylvania Association of Chiefs of Police and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He was a retired member of White Rose Lodge #15, F.O.P. Jacob was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church of York. He was a hunter, handyman, and a race car fan especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. Jake loved to go camping at North 40 Campgrounds with his family and friends in Haneyville, PA for over 40 years. In addition to his wife, Pat, Jake is survived by his son, Steven J. and his wife, Lisa (Crisamore) Hose of Dallastown, Daughter, Lori L. (Hose) and her husband, Michael Becker of York; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Becker, Jamie Becker, Jarrett A. Leaman, and Joseph A. Leaman all of York; great grandson, Wesley M. Lauchman of York; brother, William M. and his wife, Karen Hose of York; nephew, Scott and his wife, Annette Hose of York; and son-in-law, Jeffrey A. Leaman of York.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa L. Leaman. Following cremation, visitations will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York and Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church of York, 29 South George Street, York. The York City Police Honor Guard will honor Jake during both visitations.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church of York with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Alan Watt, officiating. At the beginning of the memorial service, Jake will be honored by his lodge with a Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Service followed by a presentation by the York County Police Pipes and Drums.
Following the memorial service, the York County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors in the courtyard of the Church.
