Mr. Jake Kenneth Benjamin was born on July 15, 1940 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was the son of Nathaniel , Sr. and Evangeline Footman Benjamin. He departed his earthly life on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Carolinas Hospital System.

Jake attended St. John High School in Cameron, South Carolina. He was formerly employed for several years with the City of Florence. He was a member of House of God Church in Florence, South Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Mary Ann James Benjamin: three sisters, Corine B. Robinson Myers, Martha B. Glover and Eva Mae B. Shivers; and three brothers: Nathaniel Benjamin, Jr., Lloyd Benjamin, Sr. and George Benjamin. He leaves to cherish precious memories: his sons: Jake Benjamin and Earl Benjamin, both of Columbia, SC; Kenneth (Anitra) Benjamin, Jr. and Nathaniel Benjamin, both of Florence, SC; and Jerome (Angelique) Benjamin of Philadelphia, PA; daughters: Elaine Collier of GA; Blondell James, Mary D. Benjamin, Barbara (Alex) Haggans, and Emma (Terrance) Benjamin, all of Florence, SC; and Patricia Benjamin, Betty Jean Benjamin and Ruth Ann Benjamin of Orangeburg, SC; 44 grandchildren; 56 great-grands; one sister, Betty (Leroy) Ravenell of St. Matthew, SC; one brother-in-law, Jessie James of Florence, SC; two sisters-in-law, Lillia Benjamin and Teresa Benjamin, both of Orangeburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
