OBITUARY James A Thornton January 23, 1934 – January 8, 2019 James Arthur Thornton, 84, of Lee’s Summit, MO. passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019. James was born on January 23, 1934 to Lawrence and Viola Thornton in Gillespie, Illinois.

James worked 28 years for the Bendix (Allied Signal) Corporation in Kansas City. He worked his way up from general machinist to middle management before retiring in 1986. James is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Thornton; his children, Teresa (Gary) Mitchell, Karon Brooks, and James D. Thornton; five grandchildren, Christopher (Marianna) Wackerman, Rebecca (David) Wilson, Kindra Brooks, Pamela (Daniel) Brumitt, Danny Brooks Jr., and ten great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Floral Hills East Cemetery.
