Born James Allan Hefty to the late Charles and Jean (Nadler) Hefty in Monroe, Wisconsin on October 2nd, 1944, James, or Jim as many people knew him, was a member of the graduating class of 1962 from Monticello High School. After high school, Jim attended the University of Wisconsin where he earned an undergraduate degrees in mathematics and education and a Master’s degree in Administration and Counseling.

On March 22nd, 1986, at the Congregational Church in Lake Geneva, Jim was united into marriage to the woman he considered his angel, Bonnie Fink. Mr. Hefty was an outstanding and highly respected educator, basketball coach, and mentor to thousands of students who attended Badger High School in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He retired from his successful career at Badger High School in 1997.

An avid sports fan, Jim particularly loved his Wisconsin Badgers and was a big supporter of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Badger Basketball Team. Jim loved to watch college basketball games and would always make the trip to see the City of Palms Basketball Tournament. Jim loved to go to the movies and the beach with Bonnie and on cruises with his dear friends.

Out of everything that Jim loved, nothing could ever overshadow the deep love he had for his children, grandchildren, and Bonnie. Jim was a dedicated, loving, and courageous man who never let any of life’s troubles keep him down. Jim’s loving wife of 32 years, Bonnie, survives him.

His two devoted children: Bridget (Hefty) Morisseau and her husband, Tad Doherty of Cumberland, Rhode Island; and Brian Hefty and his wife, Melissa (Lloyd) Hefty of Prosper, Texas, both survive Jim. Jim’s three treasured grandchildren: Emily and Callan Morisseau and Reagan Hefty and two brothers: Mark (Vic) Hefty of St. Louis, Missouri and John (Juanita) Hefty of Denver, Colorado, all who survive Jim.
