James P. Catlett James P. Catlett, age 70, died at his home near Green City, Missouri on Friday, July 27, 2018. He was born on January 23, 1948 near Green City at the family home to Pearl Orville Catlett and Irene Nellie Ames Catlett. He married Sandra Pierson on June 18, 1966.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Tim and Amy Catlett of Maryville, MO and Jeremy and Tanya Catlett of Raymore, MO; three grandchildren, Logan Catlett and his fiancé Hannah Campbell of Cameron, Dylan Catlett of Maryville and Taylor Catlett of Raymore. Three brothers survive Dean and Nancy Catlett of Owensville, MO, Paul and Becky Catlett of Grain Valley, MO and Ray and Carolyn Catlett of Kirksville, MO. One sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Ron Kerr of Wapello, Iowa.

One uncle, Robert Walker of Kirksville, MO and one aunt Bernice Zinsli of Fairfield, Iowa as well as nieces and nephews and special friends, Darren and Christy Hodgen and son Stetson. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Donna Ruth Catlett who died in infancy, one sister-in-law, Karen Catlett. James was a life-long resident of Green City.

He was a cattle farmer and in his early years worked construction with his father-in-law, and for several years worked sale days at the Green City Livestock Market and for a time was a school bus driver at Green City R-1. James was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army, 9th Infantry Division. James was active in his community, serving on various boards in Sullivan Co., Penn Township Board Member, a 17 year member and past president of the Sullivan Co. Rural Water District, member of the VFW and American Legion Post #365.

While his children were growing up he served as a 4-H leader, little league coach and athletic booster. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon. James loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed working with his cattle on the farm.

A special joy was to attend his grandchildren’s activities and to spend time with his family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City. Burial will follow in the Mt.

Olivet Cemetery in Green City. A visitation is scheduled for 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday, July 30, 2018. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of NEMO or the American Cancer Society.
