OBITUARY James E. Jefferies May 22, 1931 – July 17, 2018 James Edward Jefferies, 87, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Curis of Waynesboro. He was born May 22, 1931, a son of the late Ernest and Emma (Yeago) Jefferies. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, Bank President, Mayor of Buena Vista, VA, owned and operated several businesses and was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Marie (Hime) Jefferies; four brothers, Robert, Elwood, Charles and Bill Jefferies. Survivors include daughters, Donna J. Wells and husband, Rick of Fredericksburg, Dianne J. Lane and husband, Mark of Waynesboro, Joan J. Zirkle of Waynesboro; three grandsons, Brett, Sean and Jeremy Zirkle; step-grandson, Richard Wells and wife, Whitney; step-great grandchildren; Kayden and Graham Wells, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at 12:00 noon, on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev.

Larry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Military Rites will be provided by American Legion Post 340.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends attending the service. Donations can be made in his memory to First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, 301 S. Wayne Ave. Waynesboro, VA 22980.
