OBITUARY Woodie Houghton June 13, 1922 – October 13, 2018 Harry “Woodie” Woodrow Houghton, 96, loving father and husband, of Staunton passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. He was born June 13, 1922, the son of the late Harry E. and Esther Lillian (Garland) Houghton. Woodie was a member of the First Christian Church in Stuart, Florida and was a founding member of the West Waynesboro Church of Christ.

He retired as a design engineer. Woodie and his wife, Douglas “Doug” enjoyed their retirement in Stuart, Florida when they returned to Roanoke, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Douglas “Doug” (Critzer) Houghton, on July 3, 2005; sisters, Virginia Houghton and Lucille Moran.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Houghton of Roanoke; three daughters, Virginia Allen of Farmville, Anita Via of Staunton and Lynette Hughes of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Smith of Florida. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the West Waynesboro Church of Christ, 2212 Cortland Street, Waynesboro with Phil Forehand officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, P. O. Box 215, Fishersville, Va 22939.
