OBITUARY Jean Brooks Henderson October 28, 1939 – October 18, 2018 Jean Elizabeth Brooks Henderson, 78, of Lyndhurst passed away at her home on Thursday, October 18, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Born October 28, 1939 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Erskine and Eliza Lotts Brooks. Jean was a graduate of Waynesboro High School.

She was known for her beautiful seamstress and craft work. As an accomplished quilter, she made many beautiful quilts during her lifetime. She was also known for her crocheting and needlework.

For the past several years, Jean loved to make quilts and afghans to donate to Project Linus for children in the area. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Marvin Henderson of Lyndhurst; her two children, Marvin Henderson, Jr. and wife, Vickie of Stuarts Draft and Cheryl Henderson Morris and husband, David “Buck” of Unionville, Va; one granddaughter, Stacie Henderson of Stuarts Draft; two great-grandchildren, Elsie Ann Henderson and Caleb Vazquez of Stuarts Draft; brother, James Brooks and wife, Ann of Covington, GA; sister, Lynda Sheffer and husband, Gary of Oriental, NC; special niece, April Baker; and several other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Mt. View Mennonite Church, 55 Love Road, Lyndhurst with Pastor Earl Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Harry DeVore, Steve Barrett, Ronnie Henderson, John Bright, Butch Alford and David Arbaugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Becky Campbell, Sharon Kiser, Rebecca Truxell, Jean Hatter, Susie Bridge, Tanya Henderson, Alicia Rexrode, Peggy DeVore, Josephine Carr and Pat Weaver. The family wishes to thank Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their love and care of Jean over the last several months and her dear friends who faithfully visited her during her illness.
