James E. “Jim” Ponsler, 60 of Rushville, passed away on May 27, 2019. He was born on March 10, 1959 in Rushville to the late Leo F. and Phyllis (Fowler) Ponsler. Jim was a 1977 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School.

He married Sherry Emmons on May 31, 1980 and she survives. Jim enjoyed country cruising and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved watching his granddaughters and also enjoyed NASCAR racing, especially when Tony Stewart would win!

He was an avid IU basketball fan. Jim was proud of being part of the Rushville Boys Basketball State Runner-Up team in 1976. He worked at Emerson Climate Control for 35 years retiring in 2016.

In addition, he is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Josh) Morgan of Shelbyville and Ashley Ponsler of Fishers, IN and; sister, Deborah (Jack) Hawkins of St. Paul; granddaughters, Kenley Renee Morgan and Kendyl Jo Morgan. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leo Ponsler, Jr., and step-mother, Naomi Richardson Ponsler. Services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10 AM in Moster Mortuary, with John Wall presiding.

Friends are welcome to visit the family in the mortuary Friday, May 31, 2019 from 3 PM- 7PM. Burial will be held in East Hill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made out to the RMH Foundation.
