FRIEL Jr., James E. “Jimmy the Giant”, 70, of Tiogue Ave. , passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 23, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 33 years to Jeannie F. (Hogan) Friel.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James E. Friel Sr. and the late Eileen M. (Kavanagh) Friel. Jimmy worked in the Forensic Unit for 28 years with the State of Rhode Island before retiring. He was a great softball player, playing on the Titan Sporting Goods team for many years as well as the local bars and pubs teams which he was a member of and he enjoyed golfing with his buddies.

Jimmy had a giant heart and great affection for his wife, children, grandchildren and all his family! Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Jill Hogan of Coventry, Jocelyn Faraone and her husband Robert of Coventry and Kyle J. Friel of Coventry; two brothers, Robert and Paul Friel, both of Warwick and his four beloved grandchildren, Austin Michael Hogan, Aiden James Hogan, Abigail Lorraine Bouffard and Robert James Faraone. He was a brother of the late Michael and Patrick Friel.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 10:00 – 12:00 pm in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte. 117), Coventry, with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will be private for the family.
