PLANTE, Norman E., 86, of Centerville Rd. , passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 33 years to Jean A. (Pollard) Plante.

Born in Coventry, he was a son of the late George A. and Jeannette (Dion) Plante. Norman was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Fire Control Technician 3rdClass on the U.S.S. BATAAN. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 36 years, retiring in 1992 as Postmaster of the West Warwick Post Office.

He had a great faith in God and love of family. He served as a lector, altar server, and was also a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound for many years at St. Gregory the Great Church in Warwick. Norman was a Past Exalted Ruler of the West Warwick Elks, enjoyed playing golf, reading and singing any chance he could, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, he leaves his two children, Steven Plante and wife Denise of Wakefield and Judith Plante of Middletown; five stepchildren, Charles L. Cloutier, Jr. and wife Sandra of Wyoming, Keith J. Cloutier and wife Laurie of Coventry, Kevin A. Cloutier and wife Jennifer and the late Marsha of Cumberland, Sherie A. Milas and husband Robert of Mansfield, MA and David M. Cloutier of West Warwick; a brother, Ronald Plante of Coventry; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. He was a brother of the late Jeanette Rexrode, Lucille Raymond and Viola Howson. His Funeral will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 8:00 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.

117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Gregory the Great Church, Warwick. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Wednesday 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
