James E. A service will be held Saturday at the funeral home at 11:00am Burial will follow in Montrepose cemetery. James E. Ploss of Ulster Landing Road died at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus on Friday February 8, 2019 just short of his 80th birthday.

Born in Ashokan, New York February 13, 1939 a son of the late Lemuel and Ina (Every) Ploss. Mr. Ploss served his country in The United States Air Force prior to The VietNam War. He was employed as a local heavy equipment hauler with CB handle “Big Iron”.

A member of Teamsters local 445. An avid sportsman, and fisherman, he played City softball, darts, and was a loyal New York Mets Fan. He will be remembered by The Kingston Catholic community as Santa during The annual holiday pancake breakfast.

Surviving are his wife of fifty nine years, Margarette M. “Meg” (Trudeau) Ploss. His Children; Debra Ann Volpe, Ina Noble and her husband Wayne, Wayne Ploss, Jan Miller and her husband Michael, James E. Ploss and his wife Cynthia, Jason A. Ploss and his wife Caryn. Siblings; Elizabeth Morgan, Latus Reide, Leona Ryan, Lemuel Ploss.

Grandchildren; Marlana, Cresandra, Joshua, Patrick, Jessica, Jennifer, Christene, Michael, Jasmine, Colin, Carlie and Janina. Ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and in-laws also survive. His son in law, Dan Volpe, and siblings, Clarissa Reid, Charlotte Brown, John Wayne (Jack) Ploss, and Richard Ploss died previously.
