Obituary for James Gann Wilson James Gann Wilson, 84, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018. Gann was born October 30, 1933 in Valentine, TX to Joe Turner Wilson and Virginia Lola Spruill Wilson. His father died of cancer when Gann was 5 years old.

Families of both were pioneer settlers of the area having traveled there by covered wagons. His mother married Carrel Frazier who loved and raised him along with a mixed brood of siblings. Carolyn, Carrell Jr., Marie, John, Robert Sterling, Mary Ann, Coleta.

Gann was baptized at a young age in the Church of Christ in Austin, TX. He worshipped with the Church of Christ in Springtown, TX. Gann attended Ennis High School and graduated in 1954.

He married his high school sweetheart, Marianna Woodall on April 4, 1952 in Ennis, TX. He joined the USAF in 1951. He and the family (Beverly Ann, James, Jr. and Joe Turner) did overseas assignments including Libya, Puerto Rico and Turkey.

Gann also served a tour in Viet Nam. Gann retired from the United States Air Force in 1970. They returned to Fort Worth where he worked at Merchant Cold Storage in the Old Swift Building in Fort Worth and later at Fruehauf Trailers at Blue Mound in Fort Worth.

His final retirement took he and Anna to 4 acres of trees and grass between Azle and Springtown where they had their retirement home built. He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Hollingsworth; daughter, Beverly Wilks; son, Joe Turner; brother, John Frazier; step-dad, Carrel Frazier; Coleta Taylor (mother of 3 of his siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, (“Father held the course on Mother’s love, he never veered off course”.

) Marianna; loving son, James, Jr. and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Michael Glen Wilson, Simon Brian Key, Amy Louise Wilson, Brice Gann Wilson, Amber Rochelle Winstead, Joe Marshall Wilson, John Turner Wilson; 28 great and great-great grandchilren; siblings, Carolyn Smith, Carrell N. Frazier, Jr. Marie Frazier, Robert Sterling, Mary Ann Mezzapelle and Coleta Wilkerson. He will be greatly missed by family, neighbors and friends.
