James’ Obituary James Hugh Clare was born on January 7, 1935 in Brunswick, GA to Brazier Hugh Clare and Rheba Elizabeth (Paulk) Clare, and passed away in Garland, TX. He yielded his spirit to God on May 3, 2019 surrounded by his family. Jim was a very successful business owner, having run an independent insurance agency for almost forty years.

At the time of his passing, he was enjoying his retirement while assisting his wife, Linda, with the management of her own private business. He loved golf, both playing and watching PGA tournaments and prior to the miracle of the DVR, woe be to the person who called during the U.S. Open. Jim was an avid Cowboys fan and back in the day, the game schedule would be consulted prior to deciding which mass to attend.

He enjoyed traveling, exploring the back roads of Texas and finding new Bar-B-Que spots. Lastly, he proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Navy. Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Beeler Clare, six siblings – sisters Pat Morris, Carol Thomas and Dorothy Burke and 3 brothers – Richard Clare, John Clare and Robert Clare; four children, Deborah Clare Stumpf, J. Kevin Clare, Christopher Clare and James Clare; two step-children – Jeff Tanner and Debbie Seidler; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Brazier and Rheba Clare, his sister Gloria Jean Anderson and first wife, Joan Langione Clare. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 9, 2019 for immediate family only, followed by a Celebration of Life service in the chapel at Williams Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the American Heart Association, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society or a favorite charity of your choice.
