Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Schnepp Health Care Center in St. Louis, Michigan. Age 87 years. The son of the late Thomas and Mella (Wiltse) Martin, Jim was born on January 13, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan.

He married Celia Pickell on June 2, 1951. She survives him. Jim was employed for Spicer Engineering for 22 years and then went on to work for the Saginaw County Road Commission and retired in 1995.

He officiated High School basketball, football and baseball and was a past president and treasurer of Maple Hills Golf Club. Surviving besides his wife Celia are three daughters, Pamela Choate, Detroit; Janet (Rodney) Dixon, Freeland and Nancy (David) Sanford, Saginaw; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Kyle) Watts, Christina Choate, James Dixon, Lauren (Raymond) Hall, Ruth (Troy) Ostertag and Rebecca Sanford; great-grandchildren, Ella and Gabriel Hall; two sisters, Monai (Jerry) White, Arizona; Mary Ruth Toffelmire, Arizona; several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his son-in-law, William Choate and a grandson, Mark Sanford.

Honoring Mr. Martin’s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2711 Mackinaw. Rev.

Fr. Stephen Gavit will officiate. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
