James J. Alsup September 19, 1936 – March 13, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card James J. Alsup, 82, of Ste. Genevieve, died on March 13, 2019 surrounded by loved ones at his residence in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
He was born September 19, 1936 in St. Louis, MO son of James A. and Pauline B. (DeGerlia) Alsup. He and Reva Joyce Arnold Alsup were married on May 26, 1956. She survives in Belton, MO.
He and Anita M. Hager Elder were married on July 7, 1990. She survives in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
In 1955 James began a long career at Prince Gardner working his way up to management positions in a short period of time. He eventually lead the entire plant in St. Mary’s MO as the plant manager. He also helped the company open new plants in Arkansas and worked in top level positions for the company in St. Louis for a career that spanned 30 Years.
His next career was helping folks with their financial planning by working at Prudential, Western Catholic Union and Conservative Financial Services. In retirement he along with his wife Anita enjoyed working at the Sainte Genevieve Winery and then Charleville Winery introducing their products to both customers and businesses through wine tastings and sales calls. He loved playing the slots, outdoors activities, especially golfing and fishing.
He was of the Presbyterian Faith, a member of American Legion Post 150 in Ste. Genevieve and the Elks Lodge in Ste. Genevieve.
He was a US Army veteran. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy (Scott) Ward of Deltona, FL, Cindy (Don) Clements of Lake Winnebago, MO; three step-sons, Scot J. Elder of Jackson, Brian P. Elder of St. Mary, Greg W. Elder of Ste. Genevieve, one step-daughter, Patrice M. Richardet of Perryville; one step-daughter-in-law, Michelle Elder of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Michael Ward, Allison and Bradley Clements; five step-grandchildren, Erica (Dennis) Siebert, Amanda (Chad) Winkler, Megan Richardet, Waylon (Kaci) Richardet and Rachel Elder; and 8 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son Michael Elder and one step-daughter, Ann Elder. Alzheimers Disease never stole nor took command of Jim’s central, gentle, caring life affirming core personality. Visitation will be held at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 19 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm with funeral service at 6:00 pm with Rev.
