Perkins, 80, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Kishwaukee Hospital. He was born April 10, 1938, in DeKalb, the son of James and June (Shiffer) Perkins. Jim married Jean Atwood on September 12, 1964, at the First Baptist Church in DeKalb.

Jim was formerly employed at Cordes and later as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office in DeKalb for 34 years. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church and a current member of Faith Baptist Church. Jim was an avid bowler, enjoyed puzzles, solitaire, the White Sox, and was a jack of all trades who liked to build things.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Greg (Shelly) Perkins of DeKalb; daughter, Deanna (Jim) Elliott of Rock Island; five grandchildren, Hayden, Michaela, Jacob, Jimmy and Jason; brother, David (Donna) Perkins of Genoa; sisters, Linda Perkins of DeKalb and Sherry Frankville of Milan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Faith Baptist Church, 615 South 1st Street, DeKalb, with Rev.

Larry Allison officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, at the church.
