James “Jim” Edward Tolley, 76, of Asheville passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2018. Born March 18, 1942 in Asheville, he was a son of the late James and Ruby Henderson Tolley. In 2002, he retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Asheville.

He was diverse in his talents and a jack of many trades. As a musical artist, he could write songs and play a variety of instruments including the guitar and piano. In addition, he was an exquisite woodworker and excellent softball player in his youth.

These were just a few of his many talents. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Rosalee Tolley and Wilma Jean Tolley. Surviving is his loving spouse of 45 years, Linda D. Tolley; children, Diane Tolley of Erin, TN, Heather Tolley of Asheville, Jon Tolley of Davenport, FL and Nathan Tolley and his spouse, Beth, of Candler; siblings, Shelby “Gene” Tolley of Leicester and Charlotte Roberts of Swannanoa; and grandchildren, Caleb Tolley, Cody Tolley, and Courtney Tolley.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in the chapel of Asheville Area Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services in Asheville with Rev. Derrick McCarson officiating. Condolences may be made to the family at www.
