James “Jim” Michael Shirar, 62, of Moncks Corner, husband of Vicki Shirar, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Trident Medical Center. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11 o’clock at Palmetto Land Baptist Church, 114 Tomaka Drive, Summerville, SC 29486.

Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Rd. , Summerville, SC 29485. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Palmetto Land Baptist Church, Children’s Ministry, 114 Tomaka Drive, Summerville, SC 29486.

Jim was born on September 22, 1956 in Philadelphia, PA, son of George R. Shirar (Lorene) of Charleston and the late Eleanor Shirar. He graduated from R.B. Stall High School. He was a past member of the Civil Air Patrol.

Jim was an avid bicyclist, hiker, and fisherman. He was in the marine industry for many years. He owned Fathom That Marine in Ladson for the last 28 years.

He was a member of Palmetto Land Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Survivors are his wife Vicki of 40 years and four children: Sara Veronee (Jimmy) of Ridgeville, James Daniel Shirar of Charleston, Jennifer Shirar Knight (Tim) of Moncks Corner; Seth Michael Shirar of Moncks Corner; two sisters: Sharon Shirar Rodgers of Summerville and Tammy Shirar Kline of Summerville; one brother: George Randall Shirar of Ladson; five grandchildren: Tyler Veronee (Brittany), Miranda Veronee, Evan Knight, Reese Knight, and Abel Knight; two great grandchildren: Lakelyn Veronee and Tallen Veronee. He was predeceased by his father Donald Trotter.
