CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – James “Jim” Steele, 74, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee. He was born in Castlewood, Virginia; son of the late Bob and Helen Beavers Steele. He was preceded in death by three grandsons, Robbie McGee and twins, Jacob and Nathaniel Steele; one step granddaughter, Jessica McArthur and sister-in-law, Erma Steele.

He completed his GED in the Army where he served two years in Landstuhl, Germany. He was a coal miner and enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of fifty seven years, Loretta Bryant Steele; two daughters, Cathy Austin and husband, Tiny of Big Stone Gap, Virginia and Karen Yates and husband, Dewayne of Haysi, Virginia; two sons, Gary Steele and wife, Carlotta of Wise, Virginia and Billy Steele and wife, Martha of Castlewood, Virginia; five grandchildren, Brandon Steele and fiancée’, Adria, Brad Austin and wife, Erin, Brittany Steele, Katie Addington and husband, Ethan and Kelly Steele; four step grandchildren, Vanessa Napier, Josh Yates, Cody Yates and Alex McArthur; five great grandchildren, Eli and Maci Addington, Jackson, Josie, and Jace Austin; six step great grandchildren, Emma and Ella Napier, Reece Yates, Daniel Yates, Paityn and Elliott McArthur; two brothers, Mike Steele and Ronnie Steele and wife, Tonya; three sisters, Sharon Hall and husband, Jerry, Marilyn Stacy and husband, Homer and Janet Whittaker and husband, Bill; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for James “Jim” Steele will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Woody Scott and Rev. Marvin Cain officiating.

Committal Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Brandon Steele, Brad Austin, Mike Horner, Tracy Hall, Alex McArthur and Ethan Addington.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. On line condolences may be sent to the Steele family through our website and a video tribute may be viewed at www. castlewoodfuneralhome.com.
