Obituary for James L. Skinner James L. Skinner, 82, of Waldo, AR passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, AR. James was born on March 9, 1936 in Waldo, AR to the late Thomas Herbert and Annie C. (Warren) Skinner. He was a very active member of Antioch West Baptist Church for over 70 years, where he served as a deacon for 57 years.

His most loved positions were serving as treasurer and teaching Sunday school for over 50 years. James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959, in the 19th Bombardment Wing (MED)(SAC) in Frankfurt, Germany and at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida as an Administrative Specialist. He was a former member of Rudd’s Crossing Fire Department.

He was a current member on the Rural Development Association Board and former member of the Lakeside Water Board. He dearly loved the special times with family. James loved traveling, camping, and fishing with his lake family at Jefferson Ridge.

One of his most favorite hobbies was growing Fomby watermelons for which he was known county wide. That tradition was learned from his father, Herbert and has now been passed down to his son, Mike. James was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles Skinner.

He is survived by the love of his life for 62 years Frances Skinner of Waldo, AR; daughters, Marsha Jordin and husband John of Springdale, AR, Kathy Norman and husband Collin of Benton, AR, Sharon Goble and husband Eric of Emerson, AR; son Mike Skinner and wife Phyllis of Waldo, AR; granddaughters, Alaina Murphy and husband Cody of Magnolia, AR, Heather Colquitt and husband Fred of Waldo, AR, and Kacie Robichaux and husband Hadrian of Waldo, AR; grandsons, Graham Jordin of Springdale, AR, Jon Atkinson and wife Rachel of Magnolia, AR, Paul Atkinson and wife Delana of Magnolia, AR, Nathan Goble and wife Brandy of Johnson City, TN, and Jonathan Goble and wife Courtney of Emerson, AR; great grandchildren, Madalyn Robichaux, Loftin Goble, Brayden Robichaux, Jaxon Atkinson, and Summer Murphy; special sister-in-law Becky Palmer and husband Arlis, Jr. of Magnolia, AR; sister-in-law JoAn Skinner of El Dorado, AR; four nephews; and a host of extended family and many special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Antioch West Baptist Church with Dr. Eric Goble, Bro. Chris Lucy, and Bro.

Aaron Middleton officiating. Burial will follow at the Barlow Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
