James L Sullivan Jr. of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at Massachusetts General Hospital on November 12,2018. He was 78 years old. Born in Boston, James was the oldest son of James L. Sullivan and Lillian M. (Rivard) Sullivan and was the second oldest of five children, Phyllis DeZenzo and husband Nick, Mary Chrisom and her husband Ed, the late Paul Sullivan and the late Donald Sullivan and his surviving wife Patricia.

James lived in East Boston, MA for 49 years where he was a member of the Bricklayers and Masons Local 3 for 50 years. He was also a life member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks. James had a love of the ocean and loved being on the water.

He loved the Red Sox, camping, fireworks, playing cards and spending time with family. James loved his family and he will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sandra (Garland) Sullivan, his children Carol A. Aceto, James L. Sullivan III and his wife Jane, and Albert F. Sullivan and his wife Erin.

Four grandchildren, George Aceto, Ashley Aceto, Morgan Sullivan and MiKenna Sullivan and one great-grandchild, Hunter Aceto, also survive him, as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor James’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home 971 Saratoga Street at 9AM on Saturday November 17 followed by an 11AM prayer service in our serenity chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James’s name to the American Heart Association National Center 7272 Greenville Ave.
