James’ Obituary James Lester Harlan, Jr., 81 of Follansbee, WV died peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Wheeling Medical Park in Wheeling, WV. Born on June 3, 1937 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late James L. and Eleanor (Bishop) Harlan, Sr He is also preceded in death by a brother, Mark D. Harlan, and a granddaughter, Faith Gabrielle Poszywak.

James graduated from Follansbee High School in 1956. He was a member, deacon, and elder of the Follansbee Church of Christ for many years and a Sunday School Superintendent and missions committee member. He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation where he worked as a package checker/warehouseman for 41 years.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Sondra Lee (Smith) Harlan at home; three children, Tammy (Chuck) Moorhead of Canton, OH, James J. (Rebecca) Harlan of Follansbee, WV, and Jill (Stan) Poszywak of Charlotte, N.; two brothers, Norman (Gail) Harlan of Montgomery, WV and Sanford (Virginia) Harlan of Follansbee, WV, and a sister, Hazel Lewis of Follansbee, WV; nine grandchildren, Ethan Moorhead, Jacob, Jared, Jordan, and Bethany Harlan, Jaiden, Seth, Sam, and Shaleigh Poszywak; along with several nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 14th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV 26037 where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15th at 11:00 AM with William and Dan Cooper both officiating. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery in Colliers, WV.
