James’ Obituary James P. Smith “Smitty”,66, of Bowling Green passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019. He was born on September 12, 1952 in Canton, Ohio to the late Paul M. and Patricia A. (Evans) Smith. He married Jean A. Simon in 1982 in Bowling Green, Ohio and she survives him.

Along with his wife, Smitty is survived by his son Dustin Smith of Point Place; sister Shelly (Daniel) Heidy of Canton; and brother Mark Smith of Canton. Smitty was a 1969 graduate of Lehman High School in Canton and went on to earn his degree in business at Bowling Green State University in 1974. He owned and operated his own construction business Smith Construction for over 30 year until he retired in 2007.

He was an avid golfer and would play as often as he could with his golfing buddies. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life for Smitty will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home Remembrance Banquet Hall, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, OH 43402.

A golf outing in Smitty’s honor will be held at Bowling Green Country Club at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be gifted to The American Diabetes Association or The American Cancer Society.
