Mr. James Richard “Red” Burney, 62, of Bulpitt, IL passed from this life at 9:28 am Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Taylorville, IL. He was born in Chickasha, OK January 25, 1956 the son of Charlie R. and Helen R. (Murley) Burney, Jr. Richard graduated from Kincaid High School with the class of 1973. He briefly worked for the State of Illinois and later with Goodwill Industries.

“Red” enjoyed fishing, beer, spending time with his family, having a good time and was known as an occasional good prankster. Surviving are his mother Helen Burney, sister Mary (Harry) Bandy and brother Curtis Burney all of Bulpitt, IL. , sisters’ Linda Waters, LouAnn (Lonnie) Pack, Karen (Paul) Hollaway, and Charlene Burney all of Tolar, TX.

, brothers’ Charles (Edith) Burney of Deer Park, TX and Bruce Burney of Glen Rose, TX. , along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and a great many friends. He was preceded in death by his father in 1977 and a brother Joseph Burney.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, June 4, 2018 at Masterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kincaid, IL. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL. Visitation for Mr. James Richard “Red” Burney will be held for one hour before his service at Masterson’s.
