Obituary for James W. Black GIRARD – James W. Black, 78, passed away peacefully at 8:22 a.m. on Tuesday November 20, 2018 at his home with his loving daughters by his side. He was born in Haldeman, Kentucky on December 8, 1939 the son of Milzia and Geneva (Sturgill) Black. James honorably served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, DeForest Road in Warren.

He was a fifty year member of the Laborers’ International Union, Local Union 125 and retired working in 2001. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and most of all he cherished the time spent with his family. James is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Mark) Egley, Kimberly J. Black both of Girard; three granddaughters, Courtney (Kyle) Stephens, Alison Egley, Abigail Egley; great-grandson, Spencer Stephens; five sisters, Kitty Cross of McDonald, Shirley Coyle, Debbie Cundiff, Carol Brown, Teresa Conn and brother, Charles (Charlotte) Black all of Morehead, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Mae (Caudill) Black whom he married on December 22, 1962 and who passed away on April 26, 2004; brother, Ronnie Black and three sisters, Jo Douglas, Anna Meredith, Linda Sue Black. Calling Hours will be Friday, November 23, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Rev. Starkey Gilliam will officiate. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
