Knellinger, 96, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Sunday, March 10, 2019 at The Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. He was born October 11, 1922 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late William L. and Anne (McKinley) Knellinger. Jim retired as CEO of Taflan Steel Fabricator, Inc

He was a 1940 graduate of Martins Ferry High and a graduate of Ohio University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 38 of Martins Ferry. Jim was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Martins Ferry and the Knights of Columbus.

He was past president of Martins Ferry Rotary Club, avid Purple Rider and OSU Buckeyes fan and a 2016 MFHS Athletic Dept. Wall of Honor Inductee. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene E. (Jones) Knellinger, his second wife, JoAnn (Latimer) Conaway Knellinger, his infant daughter, Vicki, great grandson, Zander, brothers: William and Jack Knellinger and his sister, Dorothy Daubenmeyer.

Surviving are his children; Judi Knellinger, Jackie (Bob) Clouse, Pam Hocking and Heidi (Cathy Newman) Knellinger, Beth (Bob) Spragg and Murray (Susan) Conaway, grandchildren; Bobby Clouse, Kristin Ladha, BJ (Ivy) Clouse, Brian (Brittany) Clouse, Greg Hocking, Becky Hocking, Anne Knellinger, Ella Knellinger, Jack Knellinger, Jenny (Matt Klan) Spragg, Brian Spragg, Patrick Spragg and Katy (Marcus Celio) Conaway, great grandchildren; Kaitlin, Lucas, Myles, Lydia, Kayden, Addisyn, Liam, Isis, Arwen and Eleanor, many nieces and nephews, sister, Anna K. Tubbs and brother-in-law, Robert (Carol) Jones. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Friday, 4 – 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 20 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935 with Rev. Tom Marut officiating.

Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry with full Military Honors by the Belmont County Veteran’s Assoc. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to; MFHS Athletic Fund, 5000 Ayers Limestone Rd, Martins Ferry, OH 43935 or St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this posting.
