Obituary for James Walters It is with unparalleled sadness that the family of James Patrick Raymond Walters must announce the passing of their beloved father, brother, uncle and grandfather on Saturday, July 7th, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Jim had been fighting with Parkinson’s disease for the past 16 years, and finally succumbed to related complications. Before his departure he spent years battling Parkinson’s to include stepping in the ring with the Rock Steady Boxing program in Troy with his son’s assistance.

Jim was featured on the cover of the Detroit Newspaper and interviewed at length with his son Robert. Click Here For Complete Article. If it wasn’t for the families support and especially the support of his beloved Amy Walters, Jim’s final days would not have been filled with such comfort and love.

Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carolyn, his mother and father Ann Beatrice and Clarence Frederick Walters, as well as his brothers Clarence F. Jr., Robert Raymond and George Joseph Walters. He is survived by his sons, Darrin P. Walters and Robert R. Walters; daughters-in-law, Amy Walters and Erin Priest; his last brother, William J. (Bill) Walters; his grandchildren, Alannah, Justin Leah and Christian Walters; great grandchildren, Dawson and Evie; and sisters-in-law, Jane Walters, Mary Walters and Joan Walters Knoche. He was also uncle to Kevin, Stephen, Ann Marie, Patrick, Michael, Michelle and their children.

It was important to Jim and his brothers to note that Jim was only one (1) of a military family of seven (7). His mother was a Secretary to an Air Force General during the 2nd World War, his father was a United States Cavalryman, his oldest brother, Clarence, was in the Army Air Corps prior to the establishment of the USAF and his brothers, Robert, George and Bill served, as did Jim, in the United States Air Force. Jim was active in the church at St. Mary’s, Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak and at St. Thomas Moore in Troy.

He was active in the choir for many years, as well as being active in the Boy Scouts, serving as Scout Master of Troop 1634. Jim later became active in the Masons and Shrine, and earned the degree of a 32nd-degree Master Mason, as well as serving his lodge in several officer seats throughout the lodge. Jim served his country, his community, his family, and his church.
