Obituary of James McDowell James Robert McDowell passed away November 21, 2018 at the age of 86. He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 7, 1932 where he resided most of his life. Jim retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 44 years of service and was proud to have served 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Jim was known by friends and co-workers to be a true gentleman. Jim was preceded in death by parents, Paul (Anna Hasso) McDowell and one brother. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol; daughters, Heather (Con) Ward of Alexandria, VA, Laurel (Michael) Ward of Copley, Ohio; son, James (Evonne) McDowell of Barberton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Colin Ward, David McDowell, Megan Ward, Michael McDowell, Sheridon Ward; brother, Delbert; and sister-in-law, Jackie (Gary) Curtis.

The family wishes to thank Laurel Lake Crown Center and Hospice for their care of Jim, and Dr. Milania Valore, for her dedication to Jim’s care over many years. At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place and private services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorials in Jim’s name may be made to the Leukemia Society.
