Jane Amalong Shrum, also known as Jane Weitzel, 78, of Roscoe, died Tuesday June 5, 2018, at her home. Born Sept. 27, 1939, in Rochester, N.Y., she was a daughter of Raymond Charles and Pearl Isabel Silvernail Ward.

Jane was a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church , its choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and a past coordinator for Meals on Wheels. She was a soloist for many weddings and funerals, and in the 1950s during her high school days she sang in the Tritones.

Jane was a 1957 graduate of California High School and a member of the high school choir. She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Amalong of Roscoe and Rebecca Amalong of Rensselaer, Ind. ; two sisters, Gale Sieghart and Joanne Fisher, both of Peoria, Ariz.

; sister-in-law, Vera Bentley of Ottawa, Ontario; a niece Linda (Rod) Steorts of Phoenix, Ariz. ; a great-niece and nephew, Julie Steorts and James (Sarah) Steorts; Sarah Shrum Carpenter (Bud’s daughter) of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla. , and the Shrum, Coyle and Weitzel families.

She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Thomas Amalong and Howard “Bud” Shrum; two brothers, Nelson Bentley and Edsel Ward; David Shrum (Bud’s son) and her miniature dachshund, Lucy, whom she loved dearly. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC. , 1008 Furlong Ave.

, Roscoe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2018, at Roscoe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Bowser officiating.
