Jane Matthews, 94, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau. She was born September 16, 1924 in Randles, Missouri to Louis G. and Anna (Berry) Matthews. Jane worked for the American Red Cross during World War II.

She also worked for Monsanto for 35 years, retiring in 1985. Jane had a unique personality and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was a “real character” and always had a good time. Loving survivors include five nephews, Brad Pickett, Charles Pickett, Mike Stroder, Louis Matthews, Jr. and Roger Pickett; niece, Susan O’Connell; brother-in-law, Floyd Stroder; numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Louis “Bud” Matthews; sisters, Virginia Crockett, Martha Pickett and Carolyn Stroder; Eloise DeLap, close friend and roommate for 40 years.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Funeral service will follow Saturday at noon at the funeral home with Rev.
