Lynn VanMatre, 88, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Chateau Girardeau Health Center. He was born March 19, 1930 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Herbert A. and Ruth Herrick VanMatre. He and Donna Schroeder were married August 1975 at Saint Louis, Missouri.

He served two years in the Army. He was a graduate of Beaumont High School in 1948. He was also a graduate of Harris Teachers College with an Associate of Arts and University of Missouri.

He worked at Mercantile Bank in Saint Louis and owned Florrisant Dodge from 1975 to 1979. He then moved to Cape Girardeau in 1980, where he purchased the Buick dealership. He was a member of Cape Rotary, Cape Girardeau Country Club and past director of MADA.

He also was an avid golfer, Hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his wife, Donna VanMatre of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Mark (Kim) VanMatre of Cape Girardeau and Scott (Carey) VanMatre of St. Charles; one daughter, Susan VanMatre of Columbia, Illinois; three grandchildren, Elise, Scott and Stevie; brother-in-law; and an uncle. There will be no visitation.
