Helen R. Edwards-Matthews, 65 of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born August 3, 1953 in Cape Girardeau to Robert Louis and Edna (Bright) Edwards. Helen retired as a social worker with the Division of Aging.

Survivors include her mother, Edna Wren of Cape Girardeau; son, Jason (Vickie) Edwards of Zebulon, North Carolina; daughter, Phaedra Edwards of Cape Girardeau; brothers, David (Tammy) Dabbs and Charley (Cherie) Wren; step-brother, Winifred (Marietta) Wren; sister, Eileen (Denny) Graham; step-sister, Mary (Mark) Shoemaker; grandchildren, Zoe and Marisa Fields, Isaac Edwards and Sierra Jones. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Louis Edwards; step-father, Charley Wren; step-mother, Linda Edwards; husband, David Matthews; sister, Patti Jayne; nephew, Whitley Dabbs. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from noon until 2:00 p.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street.

Funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Joe McCullough officiating. Burial will follow at New Lorimier Cemetery.
