Jo Ann Wilson, 89, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Chateau Girardeau Health Center. She was born October 18, 1929 in St. Louis to Elvis L. and Ruby Wagner Caldwell. She and Clyde “Cotton” Wilson Jr. were married June 23, 1951 at Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He preceded her in death on March 28, 2008. She receieved a bachelor’s degree in 1968 and her master’s degree in 1973 from Southeast Missouri State University. She taught at Egyptian Community School in Tamms, Illinois for 21 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She was a former member of Cape Girardeau Country Club Ladies Golf Association. She volunteered at American Red Cross Blood Drive and Southeast Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Above all else she loved gardening, her flowers, and her family. Survivors include her two sons, Brad (Beth) Wilson of Tamms, Illinois and Greg (Jin) Wilson of Chelsea, Oklahoma; one daughter, Kim (Rick) Krueger of Grand Junction, Colorado; one brother, Jerry L. (Ruby) Caldwell of Tamms, Illinois; six grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell-Wilson, Brett Krueger, Matthew Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Wesley Wilson, Joe Ben Wilson; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Service will follow at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the funeral home with the Rev.

Eric Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure. Memorial contributions may be given to American Red Cross.
