Janet Farnsworth, age 63, formerly of Delta, Utah, and most recently Tooele, Utah, passed away September 1st, 2018, due to complications associated with cancer. Janet was born on March 25, 1955 in Cedar City, Utah to F. Gale Farnsworth and Norma K. Farnsworth. She was the oldest of 6 children, and took great pleasure in her role as the big sister.
Janet loved her family. She spent her early years in Pleasant Grove, UT, Mesquite, NV, Logan, UT, and Huntsville, UT (where she was proud to say she attended primary with the Osmond children), until the family moved to Delta, Utah in 1966. She attended Delta Elementary and Delta High School, graduating with the class of 1973.
She enjoyed her time as a Delteen, playing flute in the DHS Band, and associating with her friends and classmates. She graduated from BYU and Stephens Henager College, focusing on becoming a teacher. She was unable to fulfill her dream of following in her parent’s footsteps as an educator, but she used the skills she learned to bless many lives.
Janet worked as a telephone operator, substitute teacher, daycare worker, and custodian, always giving her best effort. She enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting, sewing, quilting, reading, and spending time with family. Though she never married, she was fortunate to form many lifelong friendships.
Though she had no children of her own, she called many her children and was referred to often as Grandma Janet. Janet was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was proud to be from the Delta 2nd Ward.
Her ward families were important to her. She served willingly in various callings in the Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society. Janet is survived by her sisters Kathleen and LuAnne (Newport, OR), her brothers Michael Kimber (Newport, OR), Neil Kimber (Sheri) (Santa Clara, UT), Sister in law Rebecca Farnsworth (Smithfield, UT), 6 nieces, 5 nephews, 1 great niece, 2 great nephews, and many extended family and friends, as well as her many primary children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and her youngest brother Owen Kimber. A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 8, 2018 at 11:00 am, at the Tooele City Cemetery, 361 S. 100 E. Tooele, UT. A viewing will be held one-hour prior at the Tooele 26th Ward Chapel, 1025 W. Utah Ave.
