Janie Collette Skates Evenson, February 02, 1967 — January 13, 2019

Janie, 51 of Butte, MT passed away January 13, 2019 in her beloved home of natural causes. She was born February 2, 1967 in Eagle Butte, South Dakota on Cheyenne River Reservation. Her family left Eagle Butte when she was 8 and moved to Bozeman for about a year which then led them to Deer Lodge, MT.

Janie enjoyed her child hood in Deer Lodge where she made many friends; babysat and worked at the local 4B’s back in the 80’s. She graduated from Powell County High School class of 86’. Later she left the valley and moved to Oregon where she would meet her husband and had beautiful son named Matthew.

He was the light of her life and enjoyed being a mother. However life would lead her back to Deer Lodge and later to Butte where she settled her roots. Butte was her home, she loved going out with friends and enjoying the sites of Silver Bow County.

This would then put her in the arms of the man she grew to love. She and boyfriend Tim Strong lived together for many years with their dog Cricket. Then about 4 years ago they moved into their forever home.

She loved her home so much and was happy and smiles all the time. Janie loved talking about her home and all the things that she got change in it to make it her own. A cremation will take place and there will be no funeral services per request of the family.

However; a celebration of life will take place this summer. Janie, is survived by her beloved son Matthew David Evenson of Portland, OR Mother and Father Donna & Farrell DeLapp of Deer Lodge, MT. Father and Mother Ronny and Cheryl Skates of Rapid City, SD.

Older Brother Bobby Skates his wife Dalene, their children Randy and Pamela. Younger sister Marian Skates Carver her husband Jerry, their children Nichalos, Samantha, John, Jami and 6 grandkids. Younger Brother Jesse Skates and wife Dazzaleena their son Ethan.

Younger brother Jeremy Skates his wife Ashley and their son Ellis. Step brother Sam DeLapp his wife Callie, their children Skyla, Ashleigh, MacKalia and 1 grandkid. Three step sisters LisaDeLapp Miller, Corina DeLapp Hiltz, and Jennifer DeLapp Frazier and their spouses.
