Kathryn M. “Katie” Steadman passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Genesis Health and Rehab Center in Butte. She was born Monday, May 31, 1926 to Richard and Vera (McGonegal) Robertson in Red Lodge. She attended schools in Billings and married Loren E. Steadman there on December 21, 1950.
Katie and Loren made their home in Montana, which included the communities of Billings, Great Falls, Butte, Helena, Bozeman and Canyon Ferry Lake. Katie worked well past the age of 70. Her numerous jobs including Reilly’s Bar and Morey’s Jewelry & Gifts at Canyon Ferry, Country Lanes and the Holiday Inn of Bozeman, Capital City Bowl in Helena, the Rainbow Motel in Butte, the Skyline Club in Great Falls, McKesson and Robbins, the Windmill, the Turf Nightclub and the Elmo Club all in Billings.
Her favorite saying was, “Do all you can, for all the people you can, whenever you can, for as long as you can”. Her strong work ethic was driven by her generous and giving attitude. Katie’s love and passion for life have impacted her children and grandchildren greatly.
When she wasn’t working, she had a love of bowling, playing cards, and reading. She was an incredible host for holiday dinners and events that her family will always remember. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Vera Robertson, three sisters, Pat Pirie, Barbara Randall and Virginia Lundeen and her son-in-law, Fred Baker.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Loren E. Steadman of Butte, brother, Tim (Kelly) Robertson of Boise, Idaho, her children, Colleen (Ted) Fekete of Butte, Clint (Sybil) Steadman of Bozeman, Chris (Gordon) Mundt of Belgrade and Lucy Baker of Seattle, WA. Grandchildren include: Brandon (Kristen) Steadman, Soren (Valeriya) Mundt, Brad Mundt, Luke Mundt and Hannah Mundt. Great-grandchildren: Adyson and Aiden Steadman, Emil Gasanov and Eva Mundt, all from Belgrade.
Also surviving are her extended family, Scott and Tammy Kottas who adopted Katie and Loren to be grandparents to their 4 boys, Kyle, Kody, Kacey and Kameron, all of Canyon Ferry. Katie spent her last 3 ½ years at the Genesis Health and Rehab Center, where she received fantastic care from the doctors, nurses and staff. There was never a day that wasn’t filled with personal hellos, hugs and special pampering from the entire staff.
Her husband Loren, faithfully visited her daily throughout the week. Mom accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior late in life. She will be remembered for her quick wit, kind smile and infectious laugh.
