Jaretta’s Obituary Jaretta Kay (Smith) Nowell Jaretta Kay (Smith) Nowell, age 75, a resident of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at her residence. Jaretta Nowell was born the daughter of Charles and Kathryn (Elam) Smith on October 19, 1943, in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was a 1961 graduate of Lafayette High School, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Jaretta was united in marriage to Daryl Nowell on May 12, 1966 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 2001. She held numerous jobs, but retired from Sav-on Furniture Mart, due to health issues, after fourteen and a half years of service.

Jaretta was a member of the Savannah Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Rickey Nowell and wife Tammy of St. Joseph, Missouri; one daughter, Vicki Stanley and husband Gary of St. Joseph, Missouri; one brother, Roger Smith and wife Val of Osawatomie, Kansas; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and her beloved “Sophie Ann”. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daryl Nowell, one brother, Larry Smith.

Funeral services will be held at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Chapel, St. Joseph, Missouri, on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Chapel, St. Joseph, Missouri, on Friday, May 24, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Cremation will be held after the service, and private family inurnment will be held at a later date, at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Noyse Home and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri, 64601. Online condolences may be made at www.
