Jay Glenn Green KAYSVILLE – Jay Glenn Green, 97, passed away on May 17, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 13, 1920 in Fruit Heights, to E. Glenn and Ann Lorene Perkins Green. He grew up on the family farm on Green Road.
He resided in Fruit Heights and Kaysville his entire life. He graduated from Davis High. He attained his Associates Degree from Weber College and continued his education at Utah State until World War II forced him to postpone his studies.
Jay married Jane Flint on June 11, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple and they were married for over 70 years. He was her devoted caregiver for more than ten years until she passed away on December 19, 2012. Jay was employed as an agricultural inspector for the State of Utah for 20 years.
He previously worked at Clover Club Foods as a production supervisor where he gained many close friendships. However, his life’s passion was as a farmer and cattleman. He harvested many crops, raised many farm animals, and was proud to always have a well-bred, well-trained horse or two.
He took his last horse ride on his 93rd birthday. He bought four colts after he turned 94 and was excited to watch them get trained. Jay exemplified hard work, determination, perseverance, and integrity throughout his life and he lived by the creed that a man’s word is his bond.
He enjoyed sharing his stories and life lessons conveyed with his unique wit and sense of humor. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jay was a member of the Kaysville Jaycees where he developed life-long friends who later called themselves the “Exhausted Roosters”.
He was wise and prudent in his business dealings and was well read on financial matters. Jay succeeded in buying and selling real estate as well as investing in the stock market. He was still researching and investing in the stock market until shortly before his death.
He had a deep sense of love and pride for his large family. Jay and Jane’s home was always the gathering place for family and friends. Their home was where cousins became good friends.
Many dear friends were drawn to him for his wit, wisdom and support. He is survived by five children: Carole Walters, Anne (Bob) Green, Alan Green, Janet (Craig) Smith, Robert (Ellison) Green, 22 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by a brother Max (Elizabeth) Green, sister Dorothy Larkin, sisters in law, Barbara Iverson and Catherine Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jane, son in law Jerry Walters, grandson Robert Morgan Green, and sister Allene Leonard. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Tabernacle, 198 W. Center Street, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Kaysville Tabernacle.
Interment will be at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
