J.D. Lichlyter April 15, 1931 – February 06, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Jimmie Dean “J.D.” Lichlyter, Sr., 87, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away early Wednesday, February 06, 2019, at the Coffey County Hospital. He was born April 15, 1931, in Augusta, Kansas, the son of Ober R. and Jimmie Audean (Adams) Lichlyter. J.D. grew up in Augusta and graduated from Augusta High School in 1949.

He was employed by the Butler County Highway Department for three years and by the Augusta Police Department for three and a half years. On July 1, 1957, he joined the Kansas Forestry Fish and Game, working as a conservation officer until his retirement in 1993. He had lived in Hill City and El Dorado before moving to Burlington in 1969.

In his leisure time he loved to hunt arrowheads. On June 31, 1951, he and Leona Ann Morris were married in Augusta. They became the parents of four children.

Leona preceded him in death on June 7, 2005. He leaves his children, Vickie Braton, Liberty, MO, Karen Avey, Burlington, Jim Lichlyter, Wichita, KS, and David Lichlyter and wife Juli, Burlington; eight grandchildren, Steve Marley (Beth), Terry Marley, Jason Allen (Angela), Miranda Jennings, James Lichlyter, Jack Lichlyter, Christine (John) Pelton, and Jennifer Rood; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lawanda Rockhold, Memphis, MO, and Theta Harvey, Laramie, WY; a brother, Bob Lichlyter (Helen), Central Point, OR; many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Graceland Cemetery in Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Memorial contributions may be made to “God’s Storehouse” and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
